Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

Engineering Leadership

Own the entire technical vision and execution. Build and lead the engineering department while scaling our Next.js/React/PostgreSQL platform for enterprise merchants across Europe.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute long-term technical roadmap for Next.js/React/PostgreSQL stack aligned with business growth
  • Architect multi-tenant infrastructure for enterprise-level traffic and high-volume sales events (99.99% uptime)
  • Lead migration from current analytics to ClickHouse for real-time analytics and long-term data storage
  • Improve, secure, and advance all API endpoints with rate limiting, authentication hardening, and versioning
  • Optimize existing admin mobile app for store owners to manage operations efficiently
  • Architect and launch customer-facing white-label eCommerce app in React Native (Android & iOS)
  • Design secure page builder and template builder system for custom storefront templates
  • Establish sandboxed template execution to prevent malicious code injection
  • Scale existing eCommerce store templates and platform features for growing merchant needs
  • Work with NL/EU payment providers: Adyen, Klarna, Mollie, Unzer, Revolut integrations
  • Manage payment API implementations, webhook handling, and PSD2/SCA compliance
  • Assist with on-premise deployments for enterprise customers (NL, EU, Northern Europe, UK)
  • Coordinate regional installations meeting local infrastructure, security, and compliance requirements
  • Manage engineering department: microservices, analytics, frontend, and backend teams
  • Create technical interview processes and assessments for engineering candidates
  • Attend final interviews with ultimate decision-making authority on all engineering hires
  • Meet with sales team to align technical capabilities with client expectations and pipeline
  • Scope, prioritize, and oversee custom enterprise feature requests through testing and rollout
  • Ensure EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework certification with NL/EU data residency controls
  • Implement GDPR workflows: right-to-erasure, portability, consent management, retention policies
  • Coordinate with legal on Dutch/EU regulatory requirements and sub-processor compliance audits
  • Lead SOC 2 Type II and PCI-DSS certification efforts for payment and data security
  • Conduct regular penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, and security audits
  • Architect robust APIs and webhooks for third-party integrations (ERPs, CRMs, marketing tools)
  • Support headless commerce and white-label multi-storefront capabilities for agency/enterprise clients
